Ling's work explores citizens’ interaction with the built environment and our collective agency and responsibility in tackling complex issues surrounding our cities. She designs, fabricates and programmes the technology in her work, ranging from wearable technology, interactive installations, mobile phone apps to Internet of Things (IoT) tools that enable people to engage and make sense of the environment as a collective. Her work addresses issues such as safety in public space, air quality, smart city, gender, demographics and race. Her work is exhibited internationally in places such as Centre Pompidou (France), Victoria and Albert Museum (UK), Barbican (UK), HeK (Switzerland) and Wits Art Museum (South Africa), and featured in magazines and websites across the globe such as Dezeen, Wired and Fast Company.
